Escrow closed!

Well, we closed escrow today and got our keys and already started tearing walls down. We have a huge amount of work ahead of us!  This blog is going to be for friends and family to have a place to enjoy our before and after photos and to laugh along with us as we learn how to remodel as we go.

Here is the house from the outside:

This is our new house!  I want to prune back all those plants in front, put in a porch rail, and paint the ugly yellow off the window frames.  Now onto some remodeling, a mere 20 minutes after getting keys.

The first thing Mitch did was to start pulling the ugly ass panelling and fake walls out of what is going to be our master bedroom.  They told us there were windows behind the wall, and they weren't lying.  Who walls over windows? Seriously.

Here is the opposite wall with the hideous panelling.  You have to imagine it as I originally saw it when we looked at the house: with a giant american flag covering almost the whole wall.  Amazing.  

Here is the wall with panelling removed: that plaster is going to have to come down too, and we'll be drywalling.

So thats what we have for day one.  There will be lots of before and after photos to come.   I will post some general photos of the house soon so you all can take the tour.
